Chief Financial Officer

Volta Power Co, LLC., San Francisco Bay Area, CA

As Chief Financial Officer (CFO), you will provide executive expertise in the full range of financial and operating functions including but not limited to:
 

  • Project Finance

  • Capital Management

  • Financial analysis, including expanding the company through capital fundraising efforts, partnerships, and joint ventures

  • Day to day accounting responsibilities

  • Forecasting and cash flow analysis


Your background should include most of the following:
 

  • Experience with financial planning, analysis, reporting, and internal controls

  • Experience raising greater than $1M from institutional equity + debt investors

  • 3+ years of transaction experience, project finance, or structured finance

  • Close connections with family offices, angel investors, and private equity funds

  • Close connections with banks, asset-based lenders, and debt capital markets

  • Experience negotiating financing and structuring debt

  • Leadership and management experience in an entrepreneurial environment

  • A passion for innovation and the creativity to develop financial strategies for the solar industry in West Africa
     

Responsibilities:
 

  • Perform financial and economic analysis on renewable energy projects and portfolios, including evaluating levered and structured returns in support of pricing proposals, investment decision-making, and arrangement of financing

  • Assist with and perform project due diligence and feasibility studies, quantitative and qualitative analysis, financial modeling and reviews of project and company investment opportunities

  • Work with project developers and engineers to vet investment opportunities, prepare internal and external project presentations, and present investment proposals the rest of the Volta team

  • Support project team in negotiation, execution and closing of transactions

  • Perform industry-focused economic and market research as required, including tracking key industry trends, competitor activities, and regulatory, financial and economic development

 

Qualifications and Experience:
 

  • Ideal candidates will be highly motivated with exceptional analytical capabilities, organizational competence and capacity to share intellectual curiosity

  • Prior experience in a financial analyst program is a plus with renewable energy, traditional energy, or other project finance transactional experience highly valued

  • Complex financial modeling experience, including demonstrated proficiency with use of both Excel and VBA-based financial modeling for energy or other long-term infrastructure assets

  • Prior experience with and understanding of infrastructure / renewable energy project modelling, tax equity financing structures, and international investments will be a plus

  • Understanding of accounting and financial statements

  • MBA from top business school preferred

Compensation: Co-founder equity + salary after initial fundraise
