There are two solar projects installed at Samsford Farms in Nasia, Ghana, including the only mobile solar powered irrigation system in West Africa. They supply power to pumps that move 300,000 litres of water per day to irrigate 1,000 acres of rice and maize. Of the 88 full-time employees, 53 are women. Since the solar was installed, they’ve reported an $11,000 annual energy savings and an 11,000 litre reduction in diesel fuel.
